Legislative Efforts

The National Association of Bankruptcy Trustees Political Action Committee (“NABT PAC”) is a qualified political action committee that pools campaign contributions from NABT members and donates those funds to support a congressional delegation who understand our cause and educate those who may not be familiar with our issues.

Through the hard work of NABT’s leadership, the NABT PAC committee and our lobbyists, the Bankruptcy Administration Improvement Act of 2017 (H.R. 3553) was introduced in the House of Representatives.  Although this pending legislation did not pass with the 115th Congress, great strides were made, and influential representatives have pledged their support.

To address the changes in the 116th Congress, NABT hired an additional lobbyist to partner with our current lobbyists to work with both parties. Since June, we have gained the support of multiple representatives and expect another bill to be proposed before the end of the year, hopefully increasing our no asset fee from $60 to $120!

NABT's legislative efforts are funded by the NABT PAC. Federal Election rules prohibit accepting donations from non-members. If you are a member of NABT and would like to learn more about the PAC, click on the link below.
