Manhattan Project to Modern Nuclear Science
Time 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm

From the Manhattan Project buried in the mountain sides of the Jemez
to the scientific revolution of today, no other place in the world
can match the rich fusion of people and history that is Los Alamos.
Your guide will take you on a very special and behind-the-scenes view.
You will hear stories of the Manhattan Project, you will go to the
Historical Museum dedicated to preserving, protecting and interpreting the history of Los Alamos, where you will see memorabilia from the Los Alamos Ranch School, including photos of some well known alumni. You will then move to the Bradbury Science
Museum to bring you completely up to the moment. Visit the museum’s
exhibits of history and technology, see original artifacts, film footage and documents chronicling the Manhattan Project and then finally move into the present and possibly the future.

Dress Code: Comfortable clothes: slacks, jeans or skirt; sport or tee
shirt with a removable over shirt and a light jacket; good walking
shoes and sunscreen

Bandelier National Monument
Time 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Cost: $130 (Box lunch included)

This tour will head northwest of Santa Fe, across the Rio Grande Valley, and across Indian Reservations to the Pajarito Plateau, home of Bandelier National Monument. You will see the volcano that once rose 20,000 feet above sea level, visit Frijoles Canyon,
the ruins of Tyuonyi and the caves carved in canyon walls.

The Canyon was once home to between 200 to 1500 pre-historic
ancestors of today’s Pueblo Indians. You will be led through the
remains of ancient Pueblo dwellings, learning how life was lived
then. You will climb the path along the Canyon wall to the ancient
cliff dwellings where you can climb ladders and peer inside. You will
also visit the Long House, and see the remains of ancient painted
decoration and symbolic petroglyphs whose meanings still lay shrouded
in mystery.

Golf
Time: Depart at 12:45
