Hear fascinating stories about the first Chinese immigrants to arrive in San Francisco during the Gold Rush. Each of the tour leaders speak fluent Cantonese, making it a richer experience as you may visit a local herbalist, an art gallery, tea purveyor, Chinese temple, and a Chinese ‘farmers market’ – produce markets. Learn about the beautiful and ornate architecture in the area, and the best places to shop for souvenirs, jewelry and linens.
Muir Woods
1:00pm - 3:00pm
$90.00
The group will be picked up at the Fairmont at 1:00 pm and drive north across the Golden Gate Bridge, which offers sweeping views of the San Francisco, Bay, Alcatraz Island, and the city skyline. En route, we will stop for a photo opportunity in the Marin Headlands. We wind our way through the coastal mountains of the Marin Headlands and along the base of Mt. Tamalpais (the highest point in the North Bay Region) on our way to Muir Woods National Monument. The tour guide will give historical and background information about the area. The coastal redwood is the tallest tree species in the world. These trees only thrive in Northern California and Oregon, due to the thick fog that blankets the west coast in the summer months. In 1908, Senator William Kent and his wife donated their land to the state, and President Theodore Roosevelt designated it as a federally protected area. Muir Woods is the only surviving stand of old-growth redwood forest in the Bay Area.
The group will have 1 - 1 1/2 hours to wander amongst these towering giants. The sights, sounds, and smells of this living museum are sure to reconnect you with a natural world that was almost lost. The group will reunite and head back towards San Francisco with the possibility of a stop in Sausalito (a quaint old fishing village) before dropping the group back off at the Fairmont by 5:00 pm.:

Golf

Since 1895, the Presidio Golf Course has been a San Francisco tradition delivering great golf experiences to Presidents of the United States (like Teddy Roosevelt & Dwight Eisenhower), famous Military officers, civilians, and visitors from around the world. As the second oldest course west of the Mississippi, the Presidio Golf Course enjoys a rich history. In 1995, the Presidio was converted to a National Park, and Arnold Palmer Golf Management was then sought out to operate this treasure by the bay – hosting golfers of all abilities from around the globe. The course is located in the heart of San Francisco just 10 minutes from downtown.Steal a glance between shots and you’ll see brightly colored Victorians lining the trademark hills of San Francisco. Century old Eucalyptus and Monterey Pine trees sway to a fresh Pacific coast breeze. Fairways roll and meander past menacing bunkers, toward lustrous greens – manicured just for you. This is golf at the Presidio. Beautiful and challenging. The perfect way for a golfer to experience San Francisco.Join the other NABT golf enthusiasts at the Presidio on October 2. Bike the Bridge

$90.00
Right outside the front door of the bike shop at 2715 Hyde Street, there’s a brand new national park bike path where there are no more cars! That path and the tour leaders will lead the group through the Aquatic Park and into Fort Mason with its excellent views of Alcatraz. Continuing along into Crissy Field through the Presidio national park, the bike path will lead right by the water all the way to Fort Point, a neat historic building directly under the Golden Gate Bridge. Once you’ve taken in the sight from below, you’ll ascend onto the bridge itself and begin 1.7 miles of biking bliss as you ride across the Golden Gate Bridge, way up high on the sidewalk. You’ll have great views of the ocean and SF’s charming skyline. Once on the other side of the bridge, cruise ten fun minutes downhill into Sausalito, a neat little coastal town. Most people choose to eat, drink and hang out at one of the many great restaurants and shops right on the water in Sausalito, then you can put your bikes on a ferry boat and come right on back to San Francisco where you started. Along the whole ride to Sausalito the local and knowledgeable guide will share educational and entertaining information, including the history and legend behind the Golden Gate Bridge. They’ll also be pointing out the best vista points and photo stops on the ride. The guided tour includes an all day bike rental, helmets, locks, custom maps, bike fitting, handlebar bags and racks on the backs of bikes to attach backpacks or purses. The ride is a leisurely 8 iles over to Sausalito, mostly on bike paths or sidewalks. It’s good for all ages. So far there have been people from 0 (on baby seats) up to 89 years old who have done the ride and thoroughly enjoyed it!
